I have quite a few blog posts to squoosh in over the next few days, so…. here is a fun morning post for you!
Yesterday was the first day of Summer vacation for the girls. They spent a good portion of the day at a friend’s house, but, I did get to have a little afternoon fun with them.
I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive activities that really encourage imagination and creativity. So….here are a few suggestions that I have found to be quite amazing!
First up: Plain ol’ chalk. I even let my girls write on the side of the house with it. We are in the Pacific Northwest, so..the rain will wash it off soon, anyway.
I found this BUG KIT at Michael’s for $1.50! It comes with plasic tweezers, magnifying glass and a little bug net! Zoe found a roly poly and is making him a little habitat. This keeps my girls engaged for hours!!!
This is something I learned from the girls’ school. Let the kids take old electronics apart. They LOVE IT. I have this old rusted industrial blind-hem machine sitting at the side of our house (classy, right?). The girls did a really great job of taking it apart and creating new things with the old parts. ALSO…wait for it………….. they didn’t fight with each other! BONUS! So…look around your basement or storage areas for any broken printers, phones, DVD players, etc… and let the kids go at it with some screwdrivers and what-not. Their creativity will be put into overdrive!
Don’t forget about picking flowers…and making daisy chains!
and lastly…..ice cream. Lots of ice cream!
I love her messy little Summer face.
One day down…….3 months to go!
Happy Summer!
XO Julie
